Remembering our Easter Services 2020

Maundy Thursday Service

“Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples feet and to wipe them with the towel that was tied around him. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus answered, “You do not know now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no share with me.”…….After he had washed their feet, had put on his robe, and had returned to the table, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call me teacher and Lord-you are right, that is what I am. So if I, your Lord and teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you should also do as I have done to you.”

“Do This for the Remembrance of Me”

On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, ”take, eat: This is my body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me." After supper he took the cup of wine, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

Good Friday

Remembering the Passion of our Lord

The Grand County Ecumenical Good Friday Service was held at 6:30pm, with clergy and members from Church of the Eternal Hills, Lord of the Valley and St John the Baptist joined together on a Zoom Webinar, The service provided the opportunity for contemplation and prayer, contemplative music, with words of hope and promise in this time of crisis in the world. The Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ was read, and Prayers for all people were shared.

Easter Vigil

It was a vigil like no other we had ever shared, but we gathered in spirit, and awaited the coming of our Lord.

Easter Sunday Morning Prayer-9:30 AM

As the dawn brought us a fresh layer of snow, we gathered in our homes, with Fr. Matthew in the Sanctuary, to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ with song, readings and the promise of salvation and eternal life through his death and resurrection. As we sang, “I looked up and saw my Lord a-rising from the grave. Alleluia, he is coming, Alleluia he is here.”

The Lent and Easter season this year was atypical to say the least. Our community longs for the time we can celebrate together, but until then, ZOOM is our avenue for togetherness. Fr. Matthew set up this “Sanctuary Studio” from which he met with the congregation to lead us in praise and worship. Pretty ingenious, don’t you think?
